Although the size of the kitchen does not always allow it, having an office, that is, an independent area that serves as a small dining room inside, is very practical and functional. It avoids trips to the salon, thus saving effort and work in a society where, if there is not much time to spare, it is time. In addition, this ‘office area’, which was originally used to plate the food before serving it, has now become – given the change in habits – one of the social spaces par excellence of everyday life in the home. In fact, it is not only used for quick breakfasts or dinners. It also becomes the meeting place with family or friends, either because it is used for the initial snack, or because it is often decided not to make use of the dining room itself. There are many ways to create an office in the kitchen. The most conventional is to take advantage of a free space to place a bar or a table (usually round) with chairs or stools, depending on the space. In this post we offer you, however, some ideas to transform the office into that dream corner from which nobody wants to get up. To achieve this, we have chosen to give it a chill-out feel that will multiply the feeling of comfort.
Before designing the office it is necessary to think about its location. We recommend taking advantage of the free space next to the window, if available. Wooden or masonry seats can be installed in this place, which will allow us to adapt their shape to the chosen opening to make the most of the space. To give the comfortable and relaxing chill out touch that we are looking for, we will complete the seating with custom-made cushions and beautiful cushions.
If it is impossible to take advantage of the window, it is best to install a bench on the wall that is free, also combined with mats and cushions so that it is not uncomfortable. We recommend using custom-made cushions -or failing that, custom-made cushions- to avoid that they protrude from the seat or do not complete it because they are too small, something that can be unsightly, as well as annoying when it is time to rest.
One table will complete this cozy office to which we can also add some puffinstead of chairs, and a rug. We leave you some examples to inspire you when designing this original independent ‘dining room’ in the kitchen.
