Puf pera in the museum!

We want to share with you a great joy and also recommend a great exhibition that can be seen in Barcelona until January 2013. We are referring to MACBA! The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, one of the mainstays of the national avant-garde, is hosting an exhibition titled ‘Utopia is possible. ICSID. Eivissa, 1971’. to which they have given a very important touch of chill out decoration that seems to us very successful for an exhibition hall that wants to be in the XXI century.

It is a retrospective that recalls an event, the VII Congress of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) of 1917 in a totally utopian, bucolic and free Ibiza. In that meeting, which was held in the middle of nature in the cove of Sant Miquel, isolated from the Francoist and gray mentality, intellectuals, creators, artists, architects, met in a chaotic way, giving rise to an environment in which the avant-garde, experimentation and transgression marked a before and after in the world of design. One of the examples is the one pictured above, the inflatable ‘Instant City’, which served as housing for students who went to ICSID and was even the breeding ground for the ‘Instant City Manifesto’. Well, it seems to us a very wise decision to organize a retrospective of that meeting, with photographs, videos and documents from the archive, to be enjoyed on a pear pouf and with rigid cubes as support furniture, in a modern and retro-futuristic design, Kubrick Korova style, inviting to be transported to the Ibizan and deurbanized atmosphere of the seventies Ibiza. As a chill out decoration, the combination of orange and yellow has been impeccable, giving life to the immaculate white of the room and lighting, and reminiscent of the colors of the legendary Instant City. And if you don’t want to go overboard on relaxation, you can opt for the rigid bucket seats, which as chill out furniture are also unconventional.

The exhibition will be open until January 20, 2013, so you have plenty of time to check it out. Highly recommended!
