As soon as spring permits, outdoor spaces become the place par excellence for leisure and socializing, whether with family or friends. For the same reason, with the good weather it is time to focus on the decoration of terraces, gardens and balconies, usually relegated during the winter. If there is one element that cannot be missing in the design of home exteriors, it is plants. Its presence not only brings a cheerful and lively touch to the decoration. They also offer notes of color to which are added their pleasant aromas, among which we include the incredible smell of wet earth that they give off every time they are watered, either at dusk or at dawn.
A simple way to renew the ‘look’ of the terrace to give it a different air is to re-situate the plants or include new ones to ‘play’ with its composition. If you like recycling and want to join the DIY philosophy, acronym for ‘Do it yourself’, we recommend creating original flower pots and planters to make flowers the ‘soul’ of your terrace. We show you 10 everyday objects that you can reuse for this purpose, underlining the uniqueness of your exteriors:
1. Kitchen utensils
Pots, teapots, cups and colanders can be turned into charming planters. You can paint them to match the tones of the terrace or just reuse them. Of course, do not forget to open a small hole to let the water out.

2. Wicker baskets or bags
Regardless of their shape, baskets and bags can be unique planters. You only have to line its interior with a waterproof material that does not let the soil escape and open a hole to prevent watering from causing excessive humidity in the plant.

3. Cans and containers
Cans can make for creative vintage planters if their printed labeling evokes this aesthetic. You can also line them to give this effect.

4. Diskettes
What happened to your old disquets? If you are one of those nostalgic people who still have some of them, you can create stylish planters by joining them together so that their pieces form the different sides of a planter.

5. Tin (or colored plastic) buckets.
For plants that require large pots, you can opt for tin or colored plastic buckets.

6. Shoes
If you want to give a second life to old shoes, the best thing to do is to put them on your plants to provide them with an original planter.

7. Disused furniture
Before disused furniture ends up in the trash, it’s worth considering restoring it or converting it into a completely different piece. Bedside tables and drawer units are very useful as planters, as you can see in the images.

8. Gutters
Undoubtedly, the gutters can become an exceptional hanging planter. It is a matter of painting them, if you want to give them a different touch, or of combining several of them to make their composition attractive.

9. Wooden boxes
You can transform wooden crates – be they fruit, wine or any other product packaging boxes – into a charming rustic or vintage planter. You can apply color if you want to give it a personal touch.

10. Pallets
We can’t avoid including pallets in recycling posts given their versatility. The fact is that its shape facilitates the manufacture of countless pieces, whether it is a sofa made of pallets, or a
pallet sofa, a table
table or any other piece of furniture. They also become exceptional planters. But also in an original structure for hanging pots. The possibilities are many. It just depends on the imagination.
