We crossed the border to travel to a dream place nestled on the French Mediterranean coast, specifically in the French town of Menton, near Monaco. And we do it to tell you about one of the last projects in which we have been immersed: the custom decoration of the chill out terrace at
Les Sablettes Beach
(Las Arenas Playa), a restaurant opened just three years ago, but well known in the area for its original decoration with an Ibizan air. Its charming design, based on the search for differentiation, has not only won over its clientele. It has also attracted many directors, for whom its creative dining room, with a folding roof for summer starlit dinners, deserved to be immortalized with a camera and action! Hence, it has become the setting for episodes of two famous French series: ‘Gomorra’ and ‘Sexion de recherche’.
‘Les Sablettes’ contacted the Fiaka Ambient team for the decoration of a summer chill out terrace that would follow the style of the restaurant, with white as the ‘leit motiv’ to create an atmosphere that transmits peace, balance and relaxation. The uniqueness of the project also lay in the need to create an ambivalent and multifunctional space that, during the day, would allow people to relax while enjoying the sun and the beach, having a few snacks, and at night would metamorphose into a lounge bar without having to change the furniture, “something that would have made the project unfeasible,” explains Walter Baron, resident DJ and musician.
“The idea was to be able to move the structures to change scenery,” so as to “combine the double function as a VIP lounger area in the morning and an ‘after dinner’ open until the wee hours of the morning,” he adds. On the other hand, it should be taken into account that ‘Les Sablettes’ organizes “many events, so it was essential to have versatile furniture that would make it possible to restructure the decoration,” says Baron, who has followed the project from its genesis.
For this purpose, our team of interior designers designed a chill out terrace with custom-made furniture, planning the best combinations to make the most of the space, both in terms of capacity and comfort. The 2D drawings and simulations allowed us to facilitate the integration of the project to make it as ambivalent as possible.
Balinese beds
Because of its versatility, we chose the modular Balinese bed as the main piece. By allowing combinations as a lounger, sofa or armchair, thus multiplying the possibilities, this

was the perfect match for the requirements of this multifunctional chill-out terrace, with the added advantage of a reclining backrest that each customer can adjust as desired. Its nautical poly-leather upholstery offers, on the other hand, a pleasant feel and high quality: being outdoor furniture, it is resistant to the sun, humidity and friction.
Customized and personalized chill out furniture
Fiaka Baron’s work highlights the possibility of “customizing the measurements of the furniture. All the pieces have been designed in detail, a service that is very difficult to find, especially in the record time we required,” he stresses. His opinion is shared by the owner of the restaurant, Aldo Campani, for whom “it was worth hiring a company 1,600 kilometers away given the resulting beauty and speed,” the musician notes. To these advantages he adds a third: “the investment has served for two”, given the “plasticity” of this chill out furniture “to solve different situations and scenarios without changing pieces, thus making it possible to create totally different environments depending on the needs”, he says.
Just over a week ago the chill out terrace of ‘Les Sablettes’ was inaugurated, leaving “delighted” customers and “giving life” to the area, since “there is no place like this around here, where beauty and comfort merge in an exclusive atmosphere,” he says.
With its opening, the restaurant consolidates its philosophy “based on the relentless pursuit of differentiation”, through “an exclusive atmosphere that has attracted a select clientele and tourists with high purchasing power from Italy, mainly Milan and Turin”, explains Baron. In fact, if anything has defined ‘Les Sablettes’ since its founding, it has been its distance “from what everyone else is doing,” he acknowledges. And “not only through the decoration, but also thanks to the music: the lounge and chill out sounds, in line with the interior design, create a unique atmosphere on a daily basis, when it is normal in the area for DJs to be limited to the weekend,” says the head of the sounds of this original restaurant, recognized for its uniqueness.
