Decoration with trunks

We can’t help but start this post remembering Karina’s song ‘En el baúl de los recuerdos’ (In the trunk of memories). And the obvious function of any trunk or chest is precisely to serve as a ‘warehouse’ to store all kinds of things that are usually associated with many memories. That’s why they are great for organizing and keeping order at home. What makes them different from any other storage furniture is that, due to their shape, they can usually also serve as original side tables or seats, so we get a two in one. Because of this double function, to which we could add a third ornamental function, they are ideal for making the most of and optimizing small spaces. No matter how small a corner is, we can always place a nice trunk accompanied by a plant to give it life and, incidentally, gain a place for storage.

There are also trunks in as many styles as there are tastes: wooden trunks with a rustic touch, with a vintage look or with a chill out & lounge air, such as the puff chests by Fiaka. Maybe you saw these comfortable trunks-seats of different colors and sizes in the 12+1 edition of Big Brother, in which they were somehow silent ‘protagonists’ as part of the furniture.

But regardless of the look, the chests match virtually any decorative style. Even combined with elements that at first glance might seem at odds with each other – for example, an aged-looking trunk with modern design furniture – can create a very cozy eclectic atmosphere.

Among the advantages of this furniture is, finally, the possibility of using it for the decoration of very different rooms. In a hallway, foyer or stairwell, they become exceptional “sideboards”. In the living room, they can be transformed into a side table or into the seats that accompany the sofas, while in the bedroom, placed at the foot of the bed, they serve as a unique bench.

Chests and trunks are, in general, very inspiring in the interior design of homes and premises, where they manage to create a very cozy atmosphere. Even in the decoration for events they become comfortable seats that do not go unnoticed by any guest.
