One of the most exciting and unforgettable moments of Christmas -especially for the little ones- coincides with the delivery of gifts. The smiles on the faces and the palpable enthusiasm to learn about the contents of the packages are indescribable. So that you can sit comfortably and enjoy those unforgettable moments, we are going to give you some ideas for decorating a Christmas chill out corner next to the tree or the fireplace.
To begin, we recommend you to place a carpet near the tree. In this way, whoever wishes to do so can sit on the floor to open their gifts without fear of getting constipated by contact with the cold surface.
We will place a small auxiliary table or a cubic or cylindrical puff serving as a table at the side of the tree or in front of the fireplace, at a prudent distance to sit around it. The small table can be decorated with painted pinecones or other DiY ornamentation, the typical LED Christmas lights surrounding it or any other Christmas motif you like.
Normally the tree and the fireplace are located in the living room, where there are already sofas or armchairs, so we will try to integrate this corner in the existing space.
Around the small table we will place one or several square or round poufs to sit comfortably, either around the table or next to the tree. Beforehand, you can put some covers with the colors of the Santa Claus costume to emphasize the Christmas spirit or wool to make them even more comfortable and warm. If the shape of the puff is rigid cubic, the result can be spectacular.
Likewise, red and white pear-shaped poufs (if possible giant ones), or with a large cover in these colors that simulates Santa’s sack of gifts to sit on, can be a lot of fun for the little ones and give an original touch to the environment.
In case you don’t have a tree yet, you can make your own at the last minute with objects that we usually have at home or by reusing materials that are not difficult to find.
A ladder with lights and some ornaments, some boards or painted sticks forming a triangle with a star at its apex, and even a few twigs in a small pot or vase can be transformed into inspiring and, yes, unconventional Christmas trees.
Finally, we will place a cheerful and festive lighting, but not too strident – we bet on LEDs that do not consume so much and are elegant. You can also add some Christmas decorations that you like. In this way, your cozy chill out corner will be ready to receive the expected gifts.
