We summarize some keys to interior design this year that can guide you when choosing the style of your home or premises. Although some trends from 2012 are followed, this year we have new features.

Recycling is still in fashion

The DIY ( Do it yourself) culture continues to be a trend in home decoration. Recycling and reusing furniture is in vogue, not only for practical reasons, i.e. for the possibility to take advantage, as opposed to using and throwing away, to minimize our impact on nature and, incidentally, to spend less. Also for aesthetic reasons. Precious and elegant complements can emerge from the most unsuspected materials, such as lamps, candle holders or flower pots. Pallets can be transformed into comfortable sofas or unique coffee tables, while old fruit crates or an old ladder can be turned into wonderful shelves – voila! The only limit is imagination – and time, of course.

Shelf with wooden boxes. The combination of decorative styles has become a trend. It is not for nothing that we live in a multicultural and global world that, as it could not be otherwise, does not remain at the threshold of the house. Ethnic airs, Arab or chill out motifs are combined with Nordic or renovated classic aesthetics, among others, without forgetting vintage, retro, industrial or rustic touches. The mixture is not only allowed but becomes a hallmark of stylish homes.

Use of vintage, retro and renovated classic pieces

Perhaps because of the tendency to reuse, but also because of the inestimable value of history, vintage, retro and renovated classic pieces are often used to give a different touch to home decoration.

Designer furniture that has become, on the other hand, icons of this year’s interior design – be it the BKF chair, the Bertoia Diamond Lounge Chair or the Eames Plastic Armchair.
